Testimony-Teacher Ang

It was our blessing that we heard the testimony that God works in human life, Mr. Ang is a primary school’s teacher and he bear witness that he was an alcoholic and used to beat his wife and children and was amazingly changed. What man thinks is impossible; God makes it possible in His way and His right time.

Mr. Ang heard the gospel and humbled himself to the gospel and then he was sent to drunkenness-center for 10 months to stop him from drunkenness. And then now God trains him to be a Government primary school’s teacher. What a mighty change from a drunken man to government teacher. And Bible says in Rom. 10:15-17 “And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good news! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our report? So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”.

And now he comes to worship with us one time at every months, and actually he want to worship with us every Sunday. But it is difficult for him to come every Sunday, because his home is about 40 Km away from Kompongsom Church, and he must drive his motorbike by himself. Praise the LORD! Now we have the same Spirit, same faith and same God.

Testimony-Phat Sameun

My wife and I visited one of our church members, Sister Phat Sameun (Rebeca), who shared her life’s testimony.

This is her testimony: Her father passed away many years ago when she was just a small girl. Her father was an alcoholic and used to beat her, her mother and siblings.  After her father passed away, she had to support her entire family.  She dropped out of school at Grade 5 and applied as a factory worker to provide for her family.

She shared with us that she wants to continue her school but it seems impossible to her, because of her age.  I asked her that if she goes back to school who would take care of her family.  She said that even if she remains a factory worker, she would still be suffering.  Since I heard her testimony, it has been a burden to me.  My heart kept thinking about her and I asked myself how can I help her and her family?

I praise the LORD God that a door opened for her.  Mr. Paul heard about her testimony and decided to support her to learn in Lady Beauty.  There is a way, when it seemed there is no way.  Help came at the right time, and through a godly person, she will be able to learn a skill. She came to stay with us for six months to learn. And she really appreciate Pastor Hor Ponlok and his wife. Praise the LORD Almighty.

Pastor and Members

Rev. Hor Ponlok is a pastor of Kompongsom B-P Church, and he trains and educates the members of KBPC and others as in the book of Acts 2:42a “continued steadfastly in the apostles’doctrine”.  We are called to build the church around the Word. Therefore, Pastor Hor Ponlok preaches the gospel to the church for two reasons.  First, so those who are in the church who are not saved, can be saved, and second, because the saved need to hear and be reminded of God’s grace constantly. Pastor Hor Ponlok should also teach the members to instruct them. Preaching and teaching reveals the ways of Christ and the ways of God’s people. It allows them to see where they are veering off the path and align themselves with God again: (2 Tim 4:1-5) (Eph 5:1-8) (Eph 4:17-24).

Pastor Hor Ponlok teaches the members about the importance of assembling/fellowship: (Acts 2:42b).   They couldn’t stay away from each other. They were taught the joy of assembling/fellowship. The pastor leads large group meetings and small group meetings: (Acts 2:46) The members needed to meet often to stay encouraged as they resisted the culture, and in order to stay focused on following the Lord. (Heb. 10:23-25)

The pastor encourages members to give to those who had to make sacrifices to follow the Lord. The members received financial and material help for their needs. (Acts 2:45) “Sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as any man had need.” The pastor leads the church in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper constantly to remember God’s love. (Acts 2:42, 46) “The breaking of bread” The members needed to celebrate God’s love and grace to stay encouraged. (Nehemiah 8:10)

The leaders lead the members in prayer for each other. (Acts 2:42b) The pastor made every gathering a celebration of the Lord’s goodness. (Acts 2:46-47) The members need to hear that there is hope. They need constant encouragement. (2 Cor 1:23-24) When a pastor builds a church on these principals, the lost will take notice and be saved. (Acts 2:47) “The Lord added… daily those who were being saved.”

Elizabeth Roberts said on Cambodia mission

For a people ravaged by the communist genocide that cost the nation a fifth of her population under the murderous Pol Pot regime – a staggering 2 million people – the cost to Cambodia’s Christians was far greater. When the Khmer Rouge seized control of the country in 1975, the persecution was unspeakable: some 90 percent of Christians were martyred or fled the country. By the end of the holocaust, only two trained pastors remained. But in God’s providence, His promise from Genesis 50:20, He is opening doors and hearts to the gospel in a way never before seen in Cambodia.

Hor Ponlok, who planted Kompongsom Bible-Presbyterian Church in Sikanoukville, acts as the hands and feet of that promise. He planted the church in 2008, 11 years after giving his life to the Lord, initially on the grounds of the rural Bible College both in Cambodia and Singapore, before a partnership with Elk Grove Bible Church and other church enabled him to move to the heart of the city.

Hor, 38, his wife, Esther, and son Joseph have lived alongside his people in poverty while laboring to spread the gospel and disciple young Christians. The fruit – and the transformed lives – has been nothing short of extraordinary. In the face of countless difficulties and a shifting political climate, the church continues to grow. And in a nation where once only two pastors remained, the college every year graduates a new crop of trained pastors who are being sent across the nation to reach the lost.

For a nation once virtually closed to the Gospel and a people desperate to be free from the shackles of false religion, the hope is boundless. You can be a part of that great hope – I promise you, the reward will bring you greater joy than anything you’ve ever done. It takes so little on our part here in the West to make such a vast difference for the Kingdom in this poverty-stricken nation. Even just a few dollars a month is enough to change a life.

And if you’re traveling to Cambodia or another nation in need of the Gospel, The Gospel Coalition’s Packing Hope program will arrange to deliver cases of free books to the church in the Khmer language to strengthen and equip its members with solid theology and teaching.

“God has given you blessings upon blessings so that today you have many churches in which to worship him and learn from his living Word. … Give us the right to believe in Jesus Christ the true God on whom you have believed for many, many centuries.”

For Chhirc Taing, who returned to his country to advance the gospel knowing he would be killed, and was, days after the Khmer Rouge took over in 1975, the need was so profound that no sacrifice was too much to make. The need is no less great today, but the sacrifice asked of us now is incomparably
smaller.
