Pastor and Members

Rev. Hor Ponlok is a pastor of Kompongsom B-P Church, and he trains and educates the members of KBPC and others as in the book of Acts 2:42a “continued steadfastly in the apostles’doctrine”.  We are called to build the church around the Word. Therefore, Pastor Hor Ponlok preaches the gospel to the church for two reasons.  First, so those who are in the church who are not saved, can be saved, and second, because the saved need to hear and be reminded of God’s grace constantly. Pastor Hor Ponlok should also teach the members to instruct them. Preaching and teaching reveals the ways of Christ and the ways of God’s people. It allows them to see where they are veering off the path and align themselves with God again: (2 Tim 4:1-5) (Eph 5:1-8) (Eph 4:17-24).

Pastor Hor Ponlok teaches the members about the importance of assembling/fellowship: (Acts 2:42b).   They couldn’t stay away from each other. They were taught the joy of assembling/fellowship. The pastor leads large group meetings and small group meetings: (Acts 2:46) The members needed to meet often to stay encouraged as they resisted the culture, and in order to stay focused on following the Lord. (Heb. 10:23-25)

The pastor encourages members to give to those who had to make sacrifices to follow the Lord. The members received financial and material help for their needs. (Acts 2:45) “Sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as any man had need.” The pastor leads the church in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper constantly to remember God’s love. (Acts 2:42, 46) “The breaking of bread” The members needed to celebrate God’s love and grace to stay encouraged. (Nehemiah 8:10)

The leaders lead the members in prayer for each other. (Acts 2:42b) The pastor made every gathering a celebration of the Lord’s goodness. (Acts 2:46-47) The members need to hear that there is hope. They need constant encouragement. (2 Cor 1:23-24) When a pastor builds a church on these principals, the lost will take notice and be saved. (Acts 2:47) “The Lord added… daily those who were being saved.”
